Two volunteers for Meals to Grow packing a discreet brown paper bag with food

Twelve million hungry children

Twelve million children in America don't get enough food to live active, healthy lives. These children are in our classrooms and on our playgrounds.

Children should never go hungry. Yet, many children who depend on school provided meals have little or no access to nutritious food on the weekends. A child is unequipped to learn when they are hungry.

Simply, Meals to Grow volunteers assemble bags of food.  The schools identify children who are considered at high risk of hunger, and each Friday the bags are discretely placed in the children's backpacks. This provides them with food when other resources may not be available. For the 2015-2016 school year, Trinity was able to deliver bags over 7000 bags of food to elementary school children in Huntsville.  Hopefully, with our contribution, these children can return to school on Monday ready to learn.
